These Iraqi heroes did not flee even when their ammo ran out and 23 of their comrades had been slain. These policemen never felt they were outclassed by the jihadi attackers. They were only outgunned. They declined the offer of troops from nearby American paratroopers. They did not need Americans to bleed for them.
